It's still a wonderful trip by car though, as Hotham is located at the highest point of the Great Alpine Road - a classic Australian motoring route. There is sealed road access from both sides of the mountain, ample overnight parking and unloading zones close to your accommodation.

QantasLink Announces More Flights to Hotham

QantasLink flights from Sydney to Hotham resume in 2010 with an extended schedule.

QantasLink’s Sydney to Hotham flights will be back this 2010 winter season with the airline announcing it will offer additional services and an extended flight schedule, meaning visitors can spend less time travelling and enjoy more time on the slopes!

QantasLink will fly direct from Sydney to Hotham Airport, the only alpine resort-based airport in the Southern Hemisphere, from 25 June 2010. Services will run four times a week during the peak season and continue until 12 September.

Mount Hotham Skiing Company General Manager, Belinda Trembath, is also excited about QantasLink’s announcement.

“We are thrilled that QantasLink are offering additional flights and an extended flight schedule to Hotham guests in 2010, allowing our interstate visitors to get even more time on snow this season.” Trembath said.

To celebrate the announcement of the new schedule, QantasLink will be offering a special sale fare of $179 one-way*, including taxes and charges, for sale from 10-19 February 2010, valid for travel throughout the 2010 season. For a full schedule and fares visit Qantas

From Melbourne and Down South

  • Take the Hume Highway to Wangaratta and then the Great Alpine Road via Bright and Harrietville, travel time is about 4.5 hours.
  • Or take the Princes Highway to Bairnsdale and the Great Alpine Road via Omeo and Dinner Plain, travel time is about 5.5 hours.
  • Coaches depart daily from Melbourne's Spencer Street Coach Terminal and Tullamarine Airport and travel via the Hume Highway to Myrtleford, Bright and Harrietville.

Travelling from Sydney

  • Fly direct from Kingsford Smith Airport to Hotham Airport.
  • Take the Hume Highway to Albury-Wodonga and follow the snow signs to Yackandandah then turn on to Myrtleford.
  • At Myrtleford turn left on to the Great Alpine Road to Bright, then Harrietville and Mount Hotham.

Queenslanders

  • Fly to Sydney and board a connecting Charter flight direct to Hotham Airport.
  • Take the Newell Highway from Queensland to Tocumwal and Cobram, then onto Wangaratta and the Great Alpine Road.

From Adelaide, Perth and Tasmania

  • Fly directly to Melbourne airport then board a connecting Charter flight direct to Hotham Airport
  • Overnight luxury airconditioned coaches, complete with video entertainment, depart from Adelaide twice weekly direct for Hotham
